We love to remember the 80s! This is the decade of strange fashion, the era of new wave, punk, peace movement, and the increasing awareness of environmental responsibility. And the music made a change as well at this time: Yes, they were still existing, the big rock legends like Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams or Bon Jovi, but in this decade a new instrument entered the history of music business – the synthesizer. During the 70s this machine was still experimental electronic equipment of monstrous dimensions, but now these devices became smaller and more compact, and suddenly they were able to create a large amount of different sounds and to imitate other instruments. This sometimes led to a funny sort of "plastic sound", in a lot of cases it also generated really warm sounding recordings. Songs like "Broken Wings" by Mr. Mister or "Silent Running" by Mike & The Mechanics are representing this type of warm sound. Other artists like Howard Jones and Nik Kershaw used synths in a more creative and innovative way. On this "80s Pop Pearls" compilation are cover versions of the most important songs of this decade included.
